Preserve the craft.
We record the techniques, tools and knowledge passed from hand to hand, so they're kept for the next generation.

About
A student-led project recording Singapore's traditional craftspeople before their trades disappear.

The founder Placeholder
I started Stories Through Craft when I realised how many of the trades around me had no one to carry them on.
[A short, first-person introduction: who you are, the moment that started the project, and what you have learned sitting in these shops. Your photo goes on the left.]

"The artisans have given their time and their stories. The least we can do is make sure they are kept."Stories Through Craft
What we stand for
We record the techniques, tools and knowledge passed from hand to hand, so they're kept for the next generation.
We tell their stories through film and the book, send visitors and buyers to their shops, and give the proceeds to the craftspeople themselves.
Our workshops, events and studio visits let anyone watch, try and learn a craft up close.
How it works
i. Interviews
We sit with each craftsperson where they work, recording their story in full alongside footage of the craft itself: the tools, the materials, the hands.
ii. Youth workshops
In schools and community centres, students meet an artisan, try the technique and hear the story behind it.
iii. The book
An illustrated children's book telling the journeys of four to six artisans, placed in school and community libraries.
Where we're headed
Targets for the project's first year. We'll update these as we go.
